UPDATE: The Car Show was a success, bringing in $1,250. The amount was donated to K9s for Warriors. In addition, the Car Show Committee donated $400 from its seed money for the event to Mike Kersten, a veteran who lives in Mount Horeb, for purchasing and training a service dog. Thank you to everyone who volunteered, exhibited, attended or donated to the event!
The Springdale Lutheran Church Car Show will be held Saturday, August 26, 2017 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Springdale. The event is open to all classes or cars, tractors and motorcycles.
There will be activities for all ages at the Car Show, including fun yard games for children. Brats, hot dogs, chips, water, assorted sodas and sweet treats will be sold at the Show. Picnic tables and some shaded seating will be available. There will be no charge to spectators, but a donation is encouraged.
The Car Show was started in 2011 to bring together car enthusiasts for a purpose. Each year, Springdale selects a local organization to support. This year funds will support a great organization – K9s for Warriors.
K9s for Warriors is dedicated to providing service canines to our warriors suffering from post-traumatic stress, traumatic brain injury, and/or military sexual trauma as a result of military service post 9/11. Their goal is to empower these veterans to return to civilian life with dignity and independence.
Each dog is carefully selected and trained to be a service dog for an American hero. The veteran is closely involved in the training of the service dog, and helping the dog become a solution to the hero’s recovery. All of these services are provided at no cost to the veteran.
Exhibitors will be automatically entered for door prize drawings throughout the day. Cars will be parked primarily on pavement and may be partially on grass. Tractors will be parked on grass, and motorcycles on either pavement or grass.
Awards will be presented at the end of the Car Show. All registered vehicles will be eligible to win awards.
We invite you to bring your family and friends to experience the show and support a great cause. For more information about the Car Show, please contact Sherri at 831-1532.
