Update: The Car Show was a rousing success, with about $2,000 raised for Badger Honor Flight, and 59 classic vehicles on display. Thank you to our sponsors (see list below), and to everyone who made the event possible. Special thanks to our hard-working team of John, Mary & Liz Arnold, Gary Bakken, Jim & Fay Dahlgren, Paul Elver, Pat & Judy Goldschmidt, Dean, Jeanne & Sherri Hefty, Tim & Dan Heindl, Pastor Jeff, Jim & Priscilla Laufenberg, Jodie Lease, Mike Reynolds, Melba Rick, Marion Ringgenberg, Jon & Amy Slaney, and Dean, Kim, Tyler & Liz Vogel.
The Springdale Lutheran Church Car Show will run from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, August 22. The event is open to all classes of cars, tractors and motorcycles. Brats, hot dogs, chips, water, assorted sodas and sweet treats will be available for purchase at the Show. There will be picnic tables and some shaded seating. A DJ will provide music throughout the day. There will be no charge to spectators at the Show, but a donation is encouraged.
Springdale’s Annual Car Show was started in 2011 to bring together car enthusiasts for a purpose. Each year, Springdale selects a local organization to support with proceeds of the event. This year we will again support Badger Honor Flight in memory of Robert J. Murray, a long-time member of Springdale, a Korean War veteran, and a volunteer at past Springdale Car Shows.
Badger Honor Flight is the local affiliate for the national Honor Flight Network. Badger Honor Flight provides transportation, meals and lodging expenses for our veterans to visit Washington D.C. to see the monuments erected in honor of their service and sacrifice. Each veteran is accompanied by a volunteer Guardian who assists the veteran and cared for any special needs. To learn more about this fine organization or how you can help, please visit their website at: http://www.badgerhonorflight.org.
Registration for the Springdale Car Show begins at 8 a.m. The fee is $10 per vehicle. Free coffee and pastries will be available during registration for all exhibitors. Dash plaques will be provided to the first registrants while supplies last. All exhibitors will also be automatically entered for door prize drawings throughout the day. Cars will be parked primarily on pavement and may be partially on grass. Tractors will be parked on grass, and motorcycles on either pavement or grass.
Through the generosity of our local sponsors and partners, we’ll be able to award trophies and door prizes to exhibitors, and make a larger donation to Badger Honor Flight. Sponsors include NAPA Auto Parts (Mt. Horeb and Dodgeville), Farmers State Bank (Mt. Horeb), Kesslers Diamonds (Madison), Hallada Motors (Dodgeville), Ring Auto Body (Spring Green), Miller & Sons (Mt. Horeb and Verona), Thrivent Financial, Bob & Mary Severson, Pepsi, Mueller Graphics (Rick Mueller), and Snap On Tools (Jonathan and Amy Slaney). We thank our sponsors for their support of the Springdale Car Show.
Awards will be presented at 3 p.m., and all registered vehicles will be eligible. Two awards will be presented in each of these categories – Pre-War Cars, Stock Cars, Custom Cars, Tractors, and Motorcycles. All categories are eligible to win awards for Pastor’s Choice, People’s Choice, and Best in Show. Voting will be conducted throughout the day by spectators for the People’s Choice Award. Judges will determine the Best in Show.
We invite you to bring your family and friends to help support Badger Honor Flight. For more information about the Springdale Lutheran Church Car Show, call 608-575-3463.
